Regarding the past service allowing the general public to purchase rolls of Presidential and Native American dollars - I seem to recall that the mint stopped selling Presidential rolls in about 2011. Can someone refresh my memory? I see that Native American rolls are available. Was there a gap in that availability?
The Presidential dollar coins were made for circulation from 2007 through 2011 in relatively large numbers. Native American dollars were made for circulation from 2009 through 2011. During the above years the mint, in order to encourage the coins to circulate, sold rolls of them at face value with no shipping charges. During this time rolls of new Presidential dollars could also be purchased over the counter at many banks. Beginning in 2012, the Presidential and Native American dollars were made for collectors only and not for circulation, and therefore the number of coins minted was greatly reduced. Rolls and bags could be obtained directly from the mint, but at a premium above face value and with shipping charges added. After Dec. 31, 2017, the mint stopped selling rolls and bags of all Presidential dollars and also stopped selling rolls and bags of Native American dollars except for the years 2017 onward. ------------------------------------------------------- www.stelzriede.com/warstory.htm Website honoring my dad's service in WW2 + lots of old music
Thanks for all that information. The actual dates and all I had forgotten. I had all those on my US Mint subscription but stopped getting them when they were removed from intended circulation.
OK, looks like I'm a little late to this thread, and apparently there's been some interesting banter, but since I have a contributor on ignore (no, I won't hit the "Show Ignored Content" button)… I will address the original question posed by @physics-fan3.14: For Texas, they should honor the "Post-1935 Dollar Abolitionist Society" (apologies to the Ike's, but...). Currently, I can only identify 1 member, but I think with more exposure....
Wonder when someone like Dansco will make an album for the new U.S. Innovation Dollar series? I see one on Littleton, but looks like for one coin for each design, instead of the normal P & D collection. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas? Thanks!
