Well, I hinted at this in an earlier post - just arrived today as advertised. Not a bad pickup at $28 shipped: 1941 S "Large S" Jefferson Nickel NGC MS66 (unattributed) This is now my third MS66 of this variety (to go with my NGC MS67, NGC MS66, PCGS MS66, and ANACS MS65.) Still hoping for a FS MS68 to come my way haha
I wanted to see how this could be photographed, so I spent under $10 to find out. The seller said “I recently came across a few of these BU/AU Mercury Dimes stored in an old envelope and to my surprise what you see in the picture is what I pulled out!”
Traveling and chanced an antique shop... for once, they had some real coins! $15 - 1928-S I bought this for the CC look and picked it out of a set they had there, the guy quoted me that and I didn’t think twice about it. Left my phone in the car so I couldn’t check the guide, but I think I did pretty good here... any thoughts on the grade?
Great coin! Besides some hairlining on the reverse it looks like a great coin for the price. Love the circcam look.
I thought the exact same thing. Looks more like it was dipped and retoned in hand but I could be wrong. Maybe I’ll throw it in some acetone. Edit- as a matter of fact I’ll go do that now and report back a bit. PS- my iMac randomly resurrected itself.
Yeah I'd try to acetone it just in case. And yay! That's a relief, so you can spend your bonus cash on coins, nor for a new laptop! Lol
Haha, yeah. My wife was like “what did you do to fix it?” “I never stopped believing.” Then I broke out into the Journey song. Heh.
