1942 Nederlandsch Indie coin error?

    Thoughts/comments on the attached coin...I am new to the coin world.

    This coin has two issues;

    1) Spelling...the coin should say "INDIE" not "INDIL" - I do realize that if you scratch out the upper two dashes in the E it would become L, however, there is no evidence (from what I can tell) that the coin has been altered. Furthermore, if you compare the other E's and L's on the coin, the "L" in the word "INDIL" looks more like the other "L's" than that of the other "E's" on the coin.

    2) The coin is domed, when I believe the 1942 Nederlandsch coin is flat?

    Is it a legitimate coin error?

    Your coin looks like it was made into some kind of button. Or it was part of some jewelry.
    The E in INDIE was damaged when it was being altered. Over time the evidence has worn away.
    Not a Mint Error just Post Mint Damage

    A "Nederlandsch Indie Coin 1Cent 1942 P" on ebay also has a "center hole".
    The "zoom" pix ebay appears to me to show that the Es (2) have
    a longer "lower jaw" than the L (1).
