Thanks ty. You made me feel better. Maybe ill ffall into a few bucks and get alteasr 1 or 2. If someone wants to se) a few here. I might be able to. Do they come in s p and d mints
I started in 1948. I had a lot of jobs in my youth that included handling change. I amassed a very large hoard of all common coins from late 1800's. Now I have 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. I have enough coins of all denominations to give each enough to get a good start in collecting. They are just not interested. I think the hobby is ending and the US Mint is a contributing factor. Making too much stuff that can't be found in circulation. A good example is the second half of the Presidential dollars. An individual could purchase rolls of each. Then, the mint cut that out and if you wanted them you had to buy them from a dealer because the amount from the mint was very prohibitive for the general collector. I quit the mint.
13 grandbabies hear. No greats yet. Your reply is wise. Hurtfull but true. The almighty buck is damaging our youth. Who plays on the stepts anymore. The milkman use to give All his steel cents to us girls cuz he got them in circulation. Miss the milkman and a porch full of kids. Now kids stare at their phones all day. And the odds of getting a S cent unheard of. God bless us.
I kept most of the steel cents because I was born in 1943. My routine after school was to visit all the mom and pop stores in the neighborhood. They let me look through all their change and didn't even look up when I came in and opened the register. On Saturday morning I would go to the local bank and sit on the floor of the vault and roll change for the tellers. It was something they had to do by hand back then. They would bring me trays of change and trust me to roll it and make even trades for the ones I wanted. Every coin imaginable was available in change then. I even got a 20 cent piece one time. There were lots of local coin clubs where you could trade for what you needed. Great, casual, honest times back then. Excuse the long story.
Please leave me alone. Please block me or somthing or Ignore me. Do what you have to do. But leave me alone. Or report me. Please. Please leave me alone @Peter T Davis
Not unless someone spends the one they bought from the mint. They will not be released - the government isn't smart enough to figure out how to make that work.
And then you get to the point when you can’t even REMEMBER adding a coin to your collection from circulation.
