I received my Secret Saturnalia gift in the mail a couple of days ago. It came via @Valentinian and I'm very intrigued as to what it contains.

Unfortunately I wasnt able to mail my gift in a timely fashion, and it has a long way to go. Hopefully it reaches its destination before the end of Saturnalia.

I need some opinions on what to do, either PM or reply.
My giftees package was returned today to my box (I just got home from work). It apparently failed customs my explaination/declaration wasn't good enough. It will be Monday at the soonest but likely later that I can get it re mailed and it has a VERY LONG way to travel.
Should I PM the giftee so he/she knows they weren't forgotten? That would blow the whole secret thing but a persons feelings, to me is more important. Thoughts anybody?

Always afraid/embarrassed to participate in the SS here, but will post so I can see what everyone gets. Best of the Holiday Season to all the "Ancients" here.

I think you're probably right to do it that way. Better to let the cat out of the bag than leave the delay unexplained, probably.

I got mine a couple of weeks ago. I like the suspense of waiting to open it and will wait until the 17th.

I had that happen recently when trying to send a package to Erin. I watched the package slowly track on its journey, then it stalled in Miami, and then it slowly came back to me . Here's the sticker:

    ReturnToSender-FullName.jpg

Out of habit I wrote only my first initial and last name on the return address but forgot that when sending an international package a full name is required :(.

I also had a slow transit problem a few Secret Saturnalias ago and it was so stressful. The package arrived very late but the recipient was traveling anyway so I don't think he even opened the package until some time in January.

Stuff happens; packages get delayed or returned. I'd PM your recipient and then try not to stress about it. The season is often stressful enough without worrying unnecessarily :).

I place more importance on the surprise of the gift than the secrecy of the gifter.

Well CTers, sorry to break protocol. But I decided to celebrate Saturnalia a day early. I will be swamped tomorrow, and I possibly(?) might not have any time to get on CT Monday. Until very late at night, maybe? So here it is. A amazingly (small) well struck Greek Hemidrachm. Along with a interesting book, that I'm looking forward to reading. When I get time? But don't worry. It will get read. It is currently #2 on my reading list. Well, a big thank you to my sec. Sat. Much appreciated.

My sincerest apologies to my recipient... for one thing I was at a bit of a loss as to what to get, for another I forgot that Saturnalia was a week earlier than Christmas, but mostly... I am just a bad boy who deserves coal. :sorry: If the one coming to me got lost in the mail it would only serve me right!

Hopefully it should arrive before Christmas at least...

I recognize that handwriting on the flip and know who your Secret Saturn is! :)

(Coincidentally, he happens to be my giftee.)

It’s midnight now and I’m still awake, but I’m determined to wait for morning so I can do a proper unboxing and take photos along the way. I’m very excited to see what I got for my first SS, and I hope that my recipient is happy with what I sent.

For those who haven’t gotten their packages yet, or for sender so just mailing them, console yourself with the fact that we still have almost 2 weeks before December 17 on the Julian calendar...

I’ll be waiting until after work today. Luckily, the wife has a work function, and so I will be able to spend some uninterrupted time with Saturn!

I received a great haul from Saturnalia! Two coins, geodes, and trilobite fossils!

Sorry for the poor photos I’m in a rush this morning but hope to spend more time researching them all tonight. Thanks Secret Saturnalia!
