Here is last one I've taken pics of for now. The only thing I can figure is that darn cigar-box which is in the bottom of my safe has imparted some sort of chemical alteration to the silver coins which are not only in it but those stacked on-top of and around it... Anyway, I kinda like it.

BTW, this coin will soon be on Ebay as a certified example (with certificate of authenticity) of a War Nickel with a General Patton's Thumb-Print, LOL...

Well we know how wrong you can be. :mouth: And once again you proved it - that looks more like FDR's print. Now if you list it at a million you would probably not get any offers, but at 100 you probably would get a hit or two. :)

Another nice coin - missed this one in passing.

Took me forever to get the pictures loaded as well. My IBook G4 went (TU) and now I'm using one of the Jen's business G3 iBooks with only 320MB of RAM. Can't even load photoshop or any of my other favorite programs.

This thing will crash if I open up two browsers...

so the chemicals in the cigar box brought out the print more clearly than previously?

    Ben:
Thank you for the history lesson.
    Lesson learned:

    Patton's thumbprint changed the D mintmark to a P.

Frank, it was a lower case d and it flipped over. Its the new variety...

Now Ben, Are you sure thats his fingerprint? Looks more like Eisenhower to me. Notice the reverse how the lines are going every which way.. No symmetry at all. It has to be a politician.

Nice looking coin. The sad part is, if an ebay powerseller listed that coin with historic thumbprint and upside down d, they would probably sell it for big money.
