This is a coin that I have had for a little while. I sent this one to anacs and I was have NOT got the grade back yet. It should be in this week. I thought it would be fun to let you guys try and see if you are close to the New ANACS grades or should I say ICGANACS graders. The photos were tough because of the woodgrain planchet. Good Luck

If it helps any, I have a 1909-S I sent to ANACS. I was not sure it would even get a 40 and they gave it a 45. The picture actually looks better (easier to discern) than the coin.

Wow, your trying to give us a challenge. But Im not even going to attemp to grade it. I dont see it having any problems getting atleast a 60, but that ones a tough one. Ill have to check back and see what they grade it.

They graded it XF 40,,, I just posted it above!! I still can't believe it!! Way to much hair detail to be in an XF holder!

I agree. I thought it was a bit better than XF, perhaps a solid 60. Aside from the planchet discoloring, there doesn't seem to be any overly visible wear. Thats why I always say, enjoy the coin, toss the slab.

First of all, I said they gave it a 45 (09-S), not 40. And I think DJP7x0s is talking about your coin, not mine.

Yes, Im talking about the 1921S. I think that should be atleast MS60, but Im curious to see if the woodgraining affects the grade. I know it shouldnt but on your coin it makes it that much harder to tell what the grade should be.
The 09S, I would have easily agreed with an XF45, but I would have wanted to see the reverse before I committed to to a grade and stood behind it.

    I'd call that 21 an AU-55/58 myself

That 21 S is a toughie, don't know what that toning is hiding though. I am pretty sure I see wear though in the har, especially from the ear up. I think I agree with the grade though, to be honest, cause I don't see any luster on it to bump it to a AU, but I could be wrong. If anything if you resubmitted, I think the highest you would get is a 45. It is still a heck of a nice coin, and this is all just my opinion, and is worth precisely what you paid for it. :D Vey nice man. :thumb:

The alloy was not properly mixed. It is no uncommon for Lincolns through at least the mid 20's.
