Welcome. I'm not really qualified to judge here, though I'm confident enough to say it's not a cheap tourist fake, at least.

If it's fake, it's reasonably well done, I think. But there are plenty of deceptive and skillfully done fakes.

It looks OK to me - like an ancient coin should - but mine is not the opinion you want to solicit in this case. I will defer to the more experienced folk.

If anything worries me about this one, it's the possible "too good to be true" factor. But I don't know.

These are faked often enough that one needs to be careful win purchasing an example (especially new to the hobby), If you like this coin design, there are many up for sale by reputable dealers. Good luck.

Yes, problem is I bought it from a reputable vendor, that is why I checked after the purchase (yeah I know...), I will try to return it and exchange it for a different coin, same price...
    Thanks for the help!

I cannot ascertain with any certainty the authenticity of this coin, but from the image I don't see anything that strikes me as wrong. Looking on Wildwinds, I don't seem to be able to find an example like it. Does the seller give any information about the coin?

Hi, Thank you for the reply and for trying to help me!!!
This is all the info the vendor tells...

Leírás (description): Ag triobol, ie.125-80, 2.75g
    Előlap (observe): farkas mellkép
    Hátlap(reverse): A
    Referencia: SNG Cop 41
    Tartásfok: EF
It is on this website (I am Hugarian). Also has another Apollonia-Pontika on his site...

I've looked thru several sites. I've found similar coins, but no exact matches. The bunch of grapes to the right on the reverse is what I cannot find. Perhaps someone else like @Ed Snible will be able to help. The price seems a little low for an example like this. I have one I purchased for around this price; however it does not compare to the detail on the one you listed:
    ARGOS.jpg
    ARGOLIS, ARGOS
    AR Hemidrachm
OBVERSE: Forepart of a wolf left
REVERSE: Large "A", eagle below "I-E/P-W/NO-S" = Hieron (Magistrate)
    Struck at Argos,90-40 BC
    2.25g, 15.5mm
    BCD Peloponnesos 1177
    Ex Aegean Numismatics

Thank you Bing, I think I will go for a money back guarantee. I can't trust this vendor after the fake Apollonia coin. I am not saying he was aware of his coin being fake, but he is supposed to be an expert. *cough *cough...
Anyways you were all really kind and helpful! Thank you!

You are quite welcome and I'm sorry I could not be more specific in my responses. Good luck in whatever you decide to do. If you are interested in collecting, you will not find a better or friendlier site than CT. A lot of really good information flows through these pages.

I don't collect Ancients, but I have to fully agree - the people on CT in the Ancients section are the friendliest and most helpful lot on here. They will also tell you the sellers and auctioneers to steer TO - they try not to dissuade someone by being negative.
I wish the other groups on here were as positive and congenial as the Ancient guys.
