    Is there a respectable coin grading company I can use if I just decide to do it myself? Not looking to join clubs or add anything to do it

    PCGS and NGC are the top two. I'm a PCGS guy, personally, but that's a matter of preference.

    Do have someone prescreen for you as much as possible, though, to avoid wasting money. TPG (third-party grading) is expensive, and even experienced collectors get unsatisfactory results at times.

    Wasting money on stuff that comes back with lower than expected grades (or worse, "details" graded problem notations) is all too easy to do. At $35-50 a pop, sending in the wrong coins can burn a lot of your money for nothing.

    PS- you DO want to join their collector clubs, since the mid- and upper- membership tiers come with credits for grading, and can save you money.

    Very sage advice here. An experienced dealer with the coin in hand should be able to tell you confidently if your coin merits the expense of grading. I did take a moment to look at the PCGS guide for your half and here is their listed values based on grade. You will see that if the coin isn't on the higher end, it may not be worth the expense.
