physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

As I single-handedly have driven up prices on prooflike coins. We all like to think we are important, but I realize that I am actually a small fish in a big pond.

Thanks for the votes and the posts. I left the poll open for an entire year.
The reason I made the post, there were times during this year when there would be a rash of foreign planchet posts, 1982-D sd copper posts, 1969-S dd, 1970-S sd and currently silver penny posts and I was just wondering what people thought the new hula hoop fad would be for 2019.

I know you are not fond of them Kurt however if you set them up correctly (distance from the coin, light, etc. ) they can be a real eye saver!

I saw the coin from the mint email I got the other day and it did intrigue me more after seeing it!

It looks a bit better than their first attempt. Their first designs were so bad that the CCAC said no to all of them!

I think I may have read that in Numismatic News a while back. Our mint needs to step it up in the design world. I say this just from my limited knowledge of what a few foreign mints in the EU do now and the older French coins I’ve recently gotten in to.

And then, at ANA Philly, real Numismatists who actually go to things got to TALK DIRECTLY WITH CCAC members to get their questions answered. No website, no periodical. Go yourself, and ASK. It’s almost like a technological miracle! A train, or an airplane, or a car.

Kurt, I’m very glad that you have and make the time to go to these events to voice your opinions on the change you want to see. Others don’t have that time and they enjoy discussing it here or reading it in periodicals and then discussing it here. I’m only making an observation and to you it’ll be worthless but here recently it appears that if you are not on the Kurt Bellman level of Numismatics then you’re wasting space. I don’t buy it and it puts you in a bad light. It especially doesn’t bode well to the newer members.

From where? I left my place, walked about 90 seconds, got on a train, got off the train, hailed a cab, went to my hotel. VOILA!

You skipped past the key element. I MAKE THE TIME to do it. It doesn’t matter whether it’s in Orlando, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Philly, Chicago, Anaheim, Portland, Denver, WHEREVER. I MAKE IT MY LIFE’S PRIORITY TO BE IN THE ARENA, RATHER THAN SPECTATE FROM AFAR.

I don’t READ the news, I help MAKE IT.

You try to make it sound like this kind of access somehow is the result of “luck”. That offends me deeply. I WORKED MY BACKSIDE OFF in order to be able to do this. But first I had to decide to get my backside out of my chair, AS A STROKE SURVIVOR WITH HUGE DEFICITS, and in Nike-like fashion, just DO IT. That is my raisin d’etre here. I tell people to get off your backside and off the stupid Internet and GO BE THERE! It’s a CHOICE, not luck. Or maybe it’s a MISSION.

I’m “supposed to be dead” for over 9 years now, and here I am. Still IN THE STINKING ARENA, and not whining about what someone else can do. Do it. Cripes, man, I had to re-learn nearly everything, walking and talking included, at age 54. I still can’t run; literally cannot, but I live BIG.

I don’t know where you got any of that. I never questioned what accomplishments you have done nor brought any disability into it(I knew about that. You told me before). You missed the point. When you comment in the fashion that you do on this format, it doesn’t put you in a good light. Regardless of your accomplishments. It’s a turn off to me and others and recently it has increased. An opinion and I don’t know how to be any clearer about it.

Did I say I care about being liked? I do not, you know. All I care about is being right. You or anyone else can like it or not. I don’t give a rip.

Pssst, c'mere. I'll let you in on a deep dark secret. I think the prevailing culture of this site is a huge steaming pile. Didya' know that? Well it's true.

I came on here in summer/fall of 2014 because of a) incessant social media stuff from Peter Davis promoting it, and b) when I lurked, I saw how completely full of BS most members here are. So as a result, you get ME.
