So what exactly has caused this damage to my fresh from the cello LMC? I've got many other coins with this going on, but this one is the most extreme.
It was not centered in the clear cello pack when the heat-sealing machine came down on it. It's damaged - not unusual to find in Mint Sets over the years.
Makes perfect sense now. The one end was only partly sealed and missing the waffling from the sealer. In turn allowing both the LMC and the Kennedy at that end to tone while leaving the others alone. Now I can go on eBay and sell it as a "rare" mint error asking hundreds of dollars for it
Please don't.. You will just be making a mockery of true Mint Error collecting. There is enough of that already!
I knew you were kidding.. I just don't want anyone new to coin collecting to think that it's ok to do that!
Though not an error and damaged, I'd still put that coin in a 2x2 and keep it. I think that's an interesting coin.
Yeah, don't want to put any more bad info in their heads. They already got Youtube and ETSY for that.
Not likely as it's no longer in the Mint sealed packaging. It's PMD as you can't prove it was caused by the Mint.
