My companion box to the good Box #5 that I posted yesterday was a skunk. :grumpy:
Then I made my bank rounds in the neighboring town. Bought some halves:
    1) $11.50 partial bag - nothing
    2) $30.00 partial bag - 67
    1) $46.50 partial bag - 68-D, 2010-S Impaired Proof, 2015 Dominican Republuc 25 Peso, AND a 1824 Matron Head Large Cent! :) It is badly worn but I believe it is a “4 over 2” variety. I think I see the remnant of the 2 to the right of the 4. It’s the second Large Cent I’ve found in a coin machine, the other being an 1816 from a Coinstar. I’ve seen this before where odd sized coins end up in the 50 cent bag.

Here's a picture of what the 1824 "4 over 2" looks like for comparison.

I didn't even notice the letters scratched on the obverse of my 1824 Large Cent until now. Dangit!

Just sold my box of pennies to the store.
Off to People's Bank to see what they have.
Then to the Post office where a couple of watches might be...

I think they add character. I cannot decipher them, can you?

Thanks. The teller let me look through the bins of dollars while I was there since they were slow. Only ones I saw that seem to carry much premium on eBay was a roll or two of Wilson and one of Cleveland (I think). I may ask after them this weekend, but if they've gone to someone else I'm ok with that. I've found over the years that I'm more of a find and hold guy in my searching and hate the idea of tying up funds and more importantly even more time these next few weeks getting ready for Christmas.

1 bank had $140 CWR halves and $2 loose. Nothing worth keeping for me, but I will give credit to the customer who carefully collected the $140 worth of AU 1971-74 halves. Too bad for me they weren’t ‘70 and older

My skunk streak continues, with 8 more boxes this week putting me at 47 skunk boxes in a row. That is a high for me. Just keep pressing along.

I could use some advice on searching Ike’s. I have maybe three days before I have to send these away. I’d like to pull the good ones out. I don’t have the time to learn the ins and outs, though I’ve spent some time perusing Ike sites. Which ones have varieties of note that i should look further into? I’ve already pulled out the two silver ones. Edit: I will be using NGC variety website to determine what to pull. Any other advice would be great.

I don’t always get this excited about foreign coins, as usually it just means less money in maybe pocket, but these ones have me smiling! The Hungarian crown is 1895 and the Canadian dime is 1957.

@Seattlite86 I am not familiar enough with Ikes to give you advice other than to recommend the Ike Group website. I have about 1,100 Ikes set aside for future error/variety searching, but it will be years before I can make the time to search them. Meanwhile, they will sit in my safe.

    Good luck!

Look for the 1971-D Friendly Eagle Variety. Also the 1972 Variety 2, the 1973 & 1973-D (NIFC - Low mintage, sold only in sets), 1976 & 1976-D Bi-Centennial Variety 1 (Bold Reverse Font, lower mintage than the Variety 2 - especially the Philly coin at around 4 million minted). And like @berto said, the Ike Group is a great resource.

@berto @TexAg thanks, I found the bookmarked Ike website. So far, no friendly eagles, no 73 anything, and no tiger claw. I do still have lots of 1972, 72D, 76 and 76Ds to go through!

Possible 72D DDO/DDR. Will have to re-look tomorrow and photograph.

Edit: found a Type 2 1976-D Ike. Will also photograph tomorrow.

One thing about this Hobby is if you don't give up Silver will find its way to you. After 47 boxes in a row all skunks, box 48 produced 16 pieces of silver 3-90%ers and 13-40%ers. With that score I just broke 6000 pieces of silver. It has taken me 5 years and one month to date. I started searching Nov 13, 2013 and today I reached my goal this year to break 6000. So Today I have a new goal to break 7000 by the end of December 2019. Every year I find less, I pulled less than 1000 three years in a row and I don't believe it will get better so that means I will have to search more boxes next year. We will see what happens. Here is what I pulled 1-51D Bennie, 2-64's, 1-65, 1-66, 9-67, and 2-69. Thank you all for your support and kind words when I needed them. Wishing you all the best of luck on your journey to find silver. May you all have a wonderful weekend.
