I had a long dry spell on coins..hadn't won one since October 9th and had bid on several!...But yea he who hast been sniped so shall himself also snippeth rolleyes Really tho, the wording on the listing may have turned other bidders away, i had to research it after it came up several times on my want list. So, here in the waning last days of 2018 is my completion of Trajan Decius family and another emperor of 251. Two conflicting stories of this young emperors short 5-6 month reign abound that he either died from the plaque or Trebonus Gallus killed him..either way his time as co-emperor was from sometime in May to November 251 AD.. POST YOUR COINS & COMMENTS PEEPS Hostilian provincial bronze,21.5mm, 7.78gms, Anazarbus Celicia. Congrats. Mines a budget example. Hostilian (250 - 251 A.D.) AR Antoninianus O: C VALENS HOSTIL MES QVINTVS N C, radiate & draped bust right. R: MARTI PROPVGNATORI, Mars advancing right holding spear & shield. Rome Mint 2.24g 21mm RIC IV 177b; RSC 15.
Hope you complete the series. I don't have Hostilian, so I feel hostile to him until I get one of his coins. I do have however coins of Trajan Decius. This is the best of his that I own, as far as condition. It's a silver Tet.. BMC 578.

Coingrats! I haven't seen that reverse before and like it Here's my guy: Hostilian MOESIA SUPERIOR. Viminacium (251). Ae. Obv: C VAL HOST M QVINTVS CAE. Draped and cuirassed bust right. Rev: P M S COL VIM / AN XII. Moesia standing facing, head left, extending hands to bull and lion standing at feet to either side. Martin 4.01; AMNG 148ff
Trajan Decius antoninianus - no Hostilian for me yet. Reverse is the minor personification Abundantia. And a heroic statue of Decius, above.
Glad it found a good home I was the seller, and you got a teriffic price if I do say so myself. Here is the Hostilian that bumped that coin out of my collection And I also added a much rarer issue of his brief stint as Augustus, mis-attributed by the auction house as a Caesar issue (although it was still not a cheap coin!)
ahaha..o wow @Finn235 ..yeah it was a bargain price i concur..maybe it was the way it was listed, idk, but i'm glad to have it ..those are neat coins you got to replace it, Merry Christmas friend
