The question is on this coin I have 47 year equal to 1962 , Input Please. Thanks Cheryl
Thank you, I wrote down the wrong year 1962 instead of the 1972, I think I am getting the hang of this Coin collecting. Thank you again for your help. Cheryl
It's definately 1972 - I've tested my calculator throughly Should design the page a bit better but I am a bit loaded with stuffs these days
This is a Japanese 10 yen coin, which is still in circulation in Japan today. The earlier dates (late 1940's and 1950's) are worth something in high grade, but from the 1960's onward, these are pocket change, worth about US 10 cents.
I'll pay $100,000 for any and all authenticated examples of Y#73 dated Showa 25 (1950) or earlier. The Japan Mint Bureau and every other known authority lists Showa 26 (1951) as the earliest date minted!
Oops! Yes indeed this bronze 10 yen was not minted until 1951; my memory is not what it used to be. During 1951-1958, this coin was struck with a reeded edge; the later issues have a plain edge. Those with reeded edge are worth $20 and up in UNC, but in circulated condition, even these are worth less than $1.
