I just picked this up at a coin show, a well worn Ancient Greek something ($5). It would make a good gift if I could figure out the city state that issued it. Any help appreciated. Thanks IMG_0597[1611]Greek obverse.jpg IMG_0598[1607]Greek reversw.jpg

Akragas in Sicily would be my guess.

Here is my first (and quite possibly wrong) guess. You would have to check this against the ethnic on the reverse of your coin, which I can't really read on your picture:

    Calciati_143.jpg

Akragas, Sicily. c240-212 BC. AE 26mm. Laureate head of Zeus Hellanios right; T behind, monogram before / AKΡAΓANTINΩ, warrior, naked, walking right, hurling a spear. SNG ANS 1142; SNG Cop 120.

(not my coin, description and image from wildwinds)

@Kevin.. Can you read AKRAGAN on left field of reverse, just as the coin shown above. Greek is not too different from Latin. Here you have only the letter G which is different Also R becomes P. Try with naked eye on your hand using a magnifier , if possible. Compare with the coin above.Good Luck.
