physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

That is how I always say it.

The Georgians put the emphasis on the Da-LAWN-eh-gah.

F12. Nice honest worn gold. I love the look. I’ve had a couple from it’s sister mint in Charlotte but never had the d mintmark

Thanks everybody, great guesses! PCGS is very conservative lately. I got this piece from a dealer out of Virginia, he bought it raw and sent it in. He expected a F12, I'm happy to be a buyer at the grade it got! :D

And yes, I want a matching Charlotte and New Orleans, preferably from the 1840's as well!

Clever! I did not call but found the city's website...

Originally incorporated as Talonega in 1833, Dahlonega, pronounced "Dah-lahn-e-ga", grew out of a fever for gold. When prospectors found the coveted metal in the area, a flood of hopeful miners rushed to the area in the 1820s. Fittingly, the name "Dahlonega" is Cherokee for "golden color" or "yellow money". In fact, the city still has places where visitors can recreationally pan for gold.

The Dahlonega Gold Museum, the state's oldest public building, is housed in the old Lumpkin County courthouse. The building holds a place on the National Register of Historic Places.

I'd like to visit the Dahlonega museum and see the site where the original mint was (it's a college now). One of these days...
