which should i buy for my first "good" coin CONTESTANT A: 1899 Morgan NGC 64 Morgan (New Orleans) price: $50 CONTESTANT B: 2004 1/10 gold american eagle(great condition) price: $100 both seem like decent deals as all the ones ive seen go for around the same price... which is a better start to my first American and my second overall coin to my collection
my vote? the 1899 morgan. the gold coin is a good choce as well, but for the gold, i would want to start the series, where with the mogan, i have no interest in that
here's my take on this quesion which, as usual, is a little out of left field... buy any gold eagle and wait about 6 months for gold to peak out, and then sell it and buy an even better coin!
Morgan - it will be a better long term investment - it's 2008 - that sucker is only getting older -steve
For investment, definetly the gold, for collecting, I'd say the Morgan. :thumb: Any pics to help us out though man? Phoenix
Hate to sound like a broken record, but joining the chorus I too vote for the New Orleans Morgan. They are not making any more of them. The 1/10oz Gold Eagle, they will be there next year, and the next year, and the next year...
Morgan. I have that same coin in my collection, although its not slabbed and its probably a 62 or 63. Anyway, beautifull coin. Those gold coins are nice, but I always go for the older coins. Just my personal preference.
I vote Morgan as well. Dont forget, that gold coin will be about the size of your pinky finger nail. They are awefully small.....the pictures dont give you an accurate view of the size. At least when you hold the Morgan in your hand, you know you have something.
