I really love that coin, and I'm SOOO happy that it went to someone "in the family"! Enjoy it! You DID get a great deal! (It's much better in hand!! so emerald green!)

I got my #1 target (the only real intentional coin) I bid on! For $10 less than the max amount that I bid, but with the CAD, it should be a great deal! Then this Vespasian denarius came through with eagle on cippus (similar to another that has recently been shared in another thread) that wasn't getting much love, so I threw my hand up and won it for what I think was a steal.

    Congrats to SA!!

Looks like I didn't win Lot 46, but I wasn't entirely expecting to anyway. My bid was a little higher than the starting bid amount, but not enough to have been super-confident of success.

Congrats to whomever got it. I'm glad to have participated, and can now at least console myself that the piggybank won't have to be shaken and the couch cushions checked for funding.

'Bye, Beauty. Enjoy your new home, wherever that is.

Pleased to have won three coins, including one of @jamesicus ’s folles of Constantius Chlorus from London. So glad I was able to win a coin from that fine collection. Thanks to SA for a great first outing.

Next time around, I’m going to set aside more funds because there were several coins I would like to have made a run on as well, but I had to be selective. I lost out on only one coin that I had prebid on--a Constantine Sol from London. It went higher than I expected; perhaps someone saw something in that coin that I didn’t. Of course, many were very lovely specimens.

And to my eye, there were a number of coins in the so-called “pick bin” section there were every bit as good as coins in the regular offering.

I like it quite a bit and consider the price appropriate. This may not be the best time of year for many people to spend money but you got an early present. Congratulations.

I agree! I am surprised many of them went unsold. I would have bid but I am not focused on those types at the moment. Some went for some great deals!

EDIT: I think it would have been better if there was no pick bin section, and the cheaper offerings were offered amongst the other ones. Just for the future :)

  12. Congratulations @Severus Alexander. I followed along. Thank you for researching 100 of my poorly labeled coins for your auction. Nothing like CT members helping each other.

I take it you were the consignor of the lovely Greek lass I was smitten with?

Thanks @Severus Alexander for a great venue !

I was outbid on two I wanted and won one. Plus two others I took the opportunity to bid on live. Among them, I fell in love with a mouth....

The portrait style is so good I couldn't pass that one, even though the preservation of the coin isn't what I usually look for

Thanks, and it's good to know that the coin was consigned by you. I can promise you that your Hadrian will continue to be cherished and appreciated.

Haha! Mostly cuz of an upcoming wedding... I'm super happy it'll be in your lovely care @TIF!!! And Max wouldn't stop asking for a nice vacation to get a son tan... Not much opportunity for that here in Minnesota! :D He'll have great time with his fellow Alexandrians!

    HOLY COW, I WON!!

I haven’t been able to buy any coins this year. But, as soon as I heard our friend Severus Alexander was starting a Canadian ancient coin auction, I started saving my nickels, since we don’t have any pennies anymore.

I put a bid on 2 coins. I was at work during the auction, so I couldn’t really follow. I wasn’t expecting to win anything because my bids were kind of low and I thought they would go for much more.

I just got home and checked my email. To my complete surprise, I actually won 9ne of the coins I bid on.

    First the one I lost,

    Helena, Constantine’s mom.

Now, the one that’s coming home to momma,

    Alexander the Great.

I’m in total shock. I consider myself very privileged to be a part of Ancient & Medieval Coins Canada’s first auction and even more so to be taking home a part of it home with me.

Thank you so much, Severus Alexander, for all you hard work. Thank you to everyone who participated. We should all be proud!

    Boo yeah!
