Couldn't have said it better myself. I guess that makes us both @physics-fan3.14 Be prepared to face the wrath for speaking these dangerous words. And I personally don't value it at $10k+ ....I'm just seeing that as the likely result based on the circumstances.
His holiness, the coin pope (aka Albanese et al.), could issue an ecclesiastical decree ordaining and declaring this to be among the finest known toned Franklins color wise.
$5k is insane. If it goes that high it will because two crack out artists get into a bidding war over it.
Who cares what Laura thinks? She is so conflicted and biased in everything she says. I find it distasteful that she harps about and propagandizes CAC including at times when she had an undisclosed financial interest in the company.
It will go over 5k you can basically bet on that and it doesn't necessarily have to have anything to do with crackout artists, in fact it's more likely that it would be to a collector the higher the price goes A lot of people as she gives good insights. I understand that a lot of people are upset that she says what others secretly know and there's probably a lot of jealously just as there is with CAC. She knows her part of the market very well and you don't have to want to get a beer with someone to recognize they have insight and interesting things to say. She's absolutely right about CAC for the deep end coins she deals in. I know many if not most dealers would prefer CAC didn't exist as it gets in their way of saying everything is premium for the grade or under-graded, but it is a great tool to help protect collectors spending big money.
If CAC is the end-all-be-all of coins and she brags about only selling the finest, then why does her auction house sell coins that are not CACed?
Because cosigners want them sold as well to get the better coins. Auction function is different anyway and you should know that. They're cutting back their auctions last I saw anyway so will probably see a lot less of lower value coins
That's precisely my point. Her overriding interest is her bottom line and pocket book. It doesn't matter how knowledgeable someone is, when that person has an obvious conflict of interest, it cheapens his or her opinion IMHO.
So they're just supposed to tell collectors to pound sand if they want anything but the best included in the consignment? Selling raw coins as a dealer is a FAR greater conflict of person interest and gain. Anyway she doesn't need me to defend her her resume speaks for itself and blows most peoples out of the water so I'm done with this
Why because it doesn't please you? Guess everyone needs to do it exactly how you feel? I hate how collectors just want to tear down everything instead of being excited that people are willing to chase something they love. I honestly feel bad for all the negative Nacys
If two people want to bid that up to $10k, then I guess they can have at it. I'm still going to say that's an insane price for it. But, all's fair in love and war and auctions.
No. Because it’s borderline AT. Unappealing reverse. Very common grade for the date. The date is one of the easiest, if not the easiest, to find with superb luster and attractive toning in the entire Franklin series.
I'm not saying anyone else has to feel that way or want to engage, but it's gotten so old with people talking down because someone paid more than they would have especially when so many are greysheet buyers. I'm a firm believer the only real threat to collecting is collectors themselves and their constant negativity
