It’s already upgraded once from 66 FBL to 66+FBL and appears to be headed to a Legend sale in January. This one should be fun to track.
I bet it sells for $20,000 and the owner submits it 600 more times to get the 67... then it goes back to Legend and sells for $3,500.
... so chemically alive that the coin even leaves a dark circle on the paper that caused the toning. I bid $55.
I would like to see a side by side of them. Us appointed internet experts are good at calling it like we see it
Thing is, 66FBL is actually really common on 1956. This one is unusual in that it is not a DDO, but I wouldn't expect a huge premium for it - not with that reverse.
Highly doubt that will come remotely close to even $1k. I see that as a $350 MAX. The obverse is nice but looks exactly like the $100k Franklin and one other I’ve seen recently so that look is starting to become a little suspect. Also, the reverse is actually unattractive and sort of looks AT. Another negative on the coin is that date is extremely easy to find in 66fbl. So, no, that coin will never fetch $100k
that Sums up my opinion...I do collect Franklins and have specimens many grades lower that to my eye look better. Looks like it spent majority of it's life in a Kenner easy bake oven.
It will go way over $1k. It sold for $2k in 2015, then was resold in the $4k-$5k range. It might have traded once more for an even higher price (I cannot confirm that). Since that point it upgraded from 66 FBL to 66+ FBL and received a CAC sticker. I don’t think it will be close to $100k, but I believe $10k will be reached.
It's a crazy number, but if all the bidders from the $130k 67+ FBL are back, then I think we'll see another eye-popping number.
Difference is, if I recall, that was a pop-top. This is nowhere near. I think registry-mania fueled that debacle, whereas this will just be crazy-color-folk. The price will be ludicrous, but not as much as that other one.
True that one was Pop 2/0 at 67+ FBL. It was mentioned that the person who bought this 1956 had the choice between the two (when both were in lower graded holders) and chose the 1956 as the better coin (of course this could just be hearsay from Legend to pump up the price). And as I mentioned, it already sold for close to $5k in the 66 holder with no CAC sticker. It doesn't seem to be a stretch to say that it will go for $10k when combining the higher grade (66+), CAC sticker, and the venue (Legend).
A coin in the blessed gown of PCGS, kissed by CAC, and venerated by the worshipful Sperber? What more could you possibly ask, except for the tears of the holy Doug! This truly is a Saint among coins, and none of us are worthy in it's presence!
