It weighs 2.43 grams. I checked the scale and the others were the correct weight so it's not off . Also seems a little thinner and slightly smaller. I've probably looked at it too much but I swear I can see another image. Any ideas?
Oh, good heavens. Sorry, but that's a nasty, corroded wreck. Even if it were an error, it would be worthless in that condition.
I'm curious.. What did the others weigh? A 1971 Copper Cent should weigh 3.11 grams. A Copper Plated Cent weighs 2.5 grams. I think your comparing the 1971 to the wrong Cents.. The Copper Plated Cents 2.43 grams is way off compared to a normal Copper Cent.
Just curious. What other images do you see? If I stare at anything for a period of time my imagination is strong enough I can see all kinds of things. lol.
If it's thinner it could be acid which would account for the missing weight. People do everything to pennies. Light them on fire, drop them in acid, etc. It's just a destroyed cent.
The weight on all the other copper coins I weighed were between 3.02 and 3.13 grams. It might be acid as it seems to have small holes or indentations on the side of the coin
Like I said probably looked at it for too long but I see another image near Lincolns face as well as an odd circle by his tie.
