Just picked this up today for $16.25 - as a silver round. It's actually a So-Called Dollar. In 1933, the state of Colorado produced these (at the last minute; literally within the final month before the event) for the Century of Progress Exhibition in Chicago. 10,000 of these Type IV SCD were minted; according to the SCD website, it's unknown how many were sold and how many have been melted. Note: You want die scratches? I got die scratches. I think I have ALL the die scratches. Someone really went to town on this. 1933 Colorado "Century of Progress" Silver So-Called Dollar Type IV - HK-870
$1 $6 $8 - my first love token - any help with the initials? DDB was my guess $8 - this one was labeled as an 1876 but there happened to be an S on the reverse. 4 million less minted than Philadelphia. It’s definitly PO-1 $10
I just picked this up today. Paid a bit high if it were just a plain old 1942-S Mercury Dime, but this is an Inverted S FS-501. $15.00
El Cheapo had to dip the sticky PVC off of it to get it looking that nice. Maybe why he got it so cheap.
I like those project coins. Nothing like getting some nasty gunk covered coin and conserving it properly to reveal a gem underneath.
I’m jealous! Looks like an UNC. Unfortunately the 1839 quarter wasn’t as great as the pics. There’s a big stain on the obverse which wasn’t clearly shown in the seller pics and there seems to be an old cleaning. It’s probably going back. You win some, you pay a couple bucks on return on others. Clearer seller pics My pics
