Is this 1971 Great Britain Half Penny An Error or On Purpose?

I think chances are this was somehow accomplished post-minting but I wanted to check in for other opinions.

I think the coin is a 1/2 Penny based on design and it being about 17mm. The whole contraption is about 19mm and weighs 4.7g.

It is in a jewelry bezel with a closed back.. that is not a Mint Error

Thank you! It just looked so plain and utilitarian for jewelry. It got me wondering. Then I thought too that maybe someone was trying to change the size up to increase the value for a vending machine or something of the sort.

 

Do you see anywhere on the edge where there might of once been a link attached?
Maybe broken old solder?
I'm thinking it could of been a keychain souvenir.

 

The edge looks uniform all around. Here is a photo. I'll look around and see what I can find for items it may have been part of ...

 

Its a 2 pence coin.
