That would be something good for the box. What denomination of Seated do you most prefer? I feel the quarter is the most balanced for the size of the portrait personally, but something like @Randy Abercrombie ‘s avatar coin would be a great choice as well. (If you’d be so kind as to post it here, Randy, I never get tired of seeing that one!) These are my nicer examples. Edit- wait a second, Rob... you have that pretty toner seated dime.
Those are great! Love the color, I’ve been looking for blast white examples of these, but I like yours more.
Wow, what a difference a year makes. Alas, I really enjoyed the 7070 format but with such a diverse array of types I felt I was in a continuous state of upgrading, found myself cracking too many slabs and I decided to go the “Box of 20” route instead. Now instead of specific type criteria I just buy whatever coin of whatever type that makes my heart go pitter-patter and am enjoying the freedom of that. The best coins of the album were certified, the rest either sold or put into capsules in my raw CircCam collection. I learned a lot putting that set together and will likely do so again down the road, but will likely set out with the goal of completing it with all coins in G-VG to be able to keep a consistent look across all types without being restrained by budget on the tougher ones.
You and I have moved in opposite directions. I used to just buy whatever coin I saw that I like. After more than a decade of that I ended up with a huge random collection with no sense of organization. Now I try to stick to specific sets because it makes more sense to me and it will be easier for one of my nieces or nephews to sell after I'm gone.
@CircCam I am awestruck by your 7070 collection. I started mine about 5 years ago. About 1/2 done with the missing 1/2 being the $100+ coins. I love your choice of the silver commemorative dollar (2008 Bald Eagle). How did you decide? I spent a lot of time looking at all the possibilities and concluded that this is the most beautiful one.
I decided the same way you did honestly, in terms of the silver commemoratives that has one of the finest designs. It also reminds me of time spent in Alaska where I saw a great deal of them in the wild. Thanks for the kind words and good luck with your set! 7070 threads are always fun if you feel like starting one and sharing your progress. Also, welcome to CT.
