I'd posted previously that I was on the hunt for a Napoleon Bonaparte coin. And boy-O did I find one! Only it's not a coin, I don't think. Though listed in the coin section by Emporium Hamburg, at 65 MM, if it were a coin, it would probably buy a good amount of French rations (wine and cheese I would presume) for some soldier. I believe it's a military medallion. But really don't know much about it other than that I was really taken by it's outstanding, near 3D, portrait of one of the world's greatest militaristic minds. FRANKREICH, Napoleon I. Bonaparte, 1804-1814, 1815, Eins. Br.-Hohlmed. o.J. unsigniert. Uniform. Brb. Napoleons I. r. 65mm. ss-vz. Ex Emporium Hamburg Please post anything related, coins medallions, thoughts on just what and where this hunk of beauty is from etc.
It's not much to look at. Here is the description from Heritage to go along with it. Napoleon I. Consulate (1799-1804). Battle of Marengo copper electrotype shell Medal L'An VIII (1800) UNC, Bramsen-33, by Montagny, 68.8mm. Made and offered by Bertrand Andrieu from his boutique, this beautiful copper piece exhibits a delicate lustrous gleam in the fields and a deep red-brown color.
