Here is a link to the legal action. http://docs.justia.com/cases/federal/district-courts/florida/flmdce/6:2008cv00042/209017/1/
This is excellent, it will get so much press in CW and NN, it will be there for everybody to read how crooked these self slabbers are, SEGS aside, to bad Larry Bence and SGS did not get on the bandwagon too. In this case, I have to side with GreedBay
Here's an idea. Why don't those self-slabbers create their own on-line auction site where they can make the rules and decide which TPGs are allowed?
I haven't even bothered to read the whole thing yet to be in agreement with Jack. Ebay felt pressure, ebay actually took some action and now ebay is being sued. I feel so bad for the lost revenues of a bunch of rip off artists (for the most part). NOT!!!
In all seriousness, my advice is to STAY CLEAR of commenting (good or bad) about either side. But, in the same breath to 'keep your eyes and computer screens open..." Ben
Perhaps the ANA will stop fighting amongst themselves and fight FOR US, thats what we pay them to do isn't it?
The ANA has already spent $750,000 or more on lawsuits against or filed by a former contractor and three former employees - and they still have not gone to court. That's about $23.50 for every ANA member. Now the ANA will have to spend several more hundred thousand dollars defending itself against this bogus lawsuit. If things don't change, before long lawyers will such the ANA dry and there will be nothing left.
I've read it, and still have a hard time undetstanding what the plaintiffs' case is for complaint. What precisely are they alleging eBay and the ANA did that was in any way illegal?
Counterfeit?!?!?! This is sloppy reporting on Coin World's part. The word should have been 'raw' or 'uncertified'. I am surprised that Coin World would make a mistake like this. [I am assuming that you transcribed Coin World's article correctly. I have not yet received that issue thanks to yesterday's holiday.]
eBay doesn't prohibit them from being sold... just from listing them as "certified." Again I don't see how the plaintiffs have a leg to stand on. eBay is a private business and is under no legal compulsion to offer their venue to anybody to sell anything if they don't want to. They can set whatever rules they want. If you want to sell something that eBay doesn't allow you to list there, or only allows you to list it in a certain way, go set up your own online auction site. I see this lawsuit as being dismissed for having no merit. If I was the judge looking at this, I would dismiss it immediately. This is the very definition of a frivolous lawsuit.
