So Recently I came accross a couple Indian Head Cents, but I saw that one was damaged as well as discolored and thicker. Can someone please tell me what this is? IMG_1182.JPG IMG_1180.JPG

But why is it thicker than the others?

It is likely an 1864. 1864 was a transition year for IHC. The first part of the year the composition of the cent was 88% copper and 12% nickle. Thus the lighter color. The cent is also thicker. Later in 1864 the bronze version was introduced. 95% copper, 5% tin and zinc. Also thickness was reduced.

The copper nickel varity(1859 to 1864) run a little thicker - yep what lawtoad said.

So since its damaged/cleaned it won't go for much

Yes the bronze IHC 1864 and later were 48 grains, the copper nickel ones , 1859 to 1864 were 72 grains, almost twice as much and since they are the same diameter, almost twice as thick.
