1969 d missing or really faded designers initials

    hello, I just found this I cannot tell if it's faded or just not there the FG on this coin and floating roof???? pic's takin with usb scope 1969 d designer intials missing or faded roof .jpg

    this coin has seen better days though 80x power.jpg this pic is with phone and 60x loop

    Others have posted a Lincoln cent with the FG missing and what they call a "floating roof". More experienced collectors claimed this was due to over polishing the die. I'm not arguing against that explanation. Wait for others to post their opinion. (your coin looks so worn there may be other explanations).

    Struck through grease, over polished die, circulation wear spend it I say.

    I would imagine that there are plenty in mint state that a damaged one isn't going to have much value.

    Struck with an overpolished and worn die.
    Common issue on Cents from the late 1960's and the early 1970's
