Oh, that is superb! Those French jetons of the era are almost universally nice, but that one especially so.

You will recognize a few similarities with mine, notably the presence of ships and cornucopias and the prominence of the anchor motif, not to mention the caduceus symbol. I like the way they set the design within the octagon on yours.

    Here's mine.

I quite like the waterfront scene on yours. The reptilian creature in the exergue of your piece is a salamander, not a "dinosaur", as the Numista page describes it. Unlike real-world creatures, salamanders of myth and legend were immune to fire. One features on the coat of arms of Le Havre, which explains its presence on your jeton.

@Aethelred just got the Gailhouste reference on these yesterday. He might find this of interest. He got enthusiastic about these after seeing mine during our recent visit.

Flicker is going the route of the bucket as of Jan3 they will be charging for storing photo's only 1000photos will be hosted for free. They also updated their upload app and it has become move involved. The free storage will apply to the latest uploaded photo's. So my older post will probably become photo less.

A very impressive bridge, Circus. I've crossed it a few times in my travels. The other bridge that really impresses me is the Tappan Zee that croses the Hudson River above New York City.

Are these tokens dated, coin_nut? If not, do you know about when they were issued? Just curious. I like the look of this one a lot.

You got me curious too. I had assumed it was quite modern, however a quick online search turns up one nearly identical dated at 557 AD.

It had an old look to me, coin_nut, but never imagined it to be that old. Thanks for the info.

India being what it is, I am sure there are plenty of modern copies of such an item.

There seems to be either encased coin or elongated coin from almost every historical spot!
Even Plymouth rock, this one seems to have seen use as a key chain fob.

I really like token that have a lot of symbols on them. So much more interesting than a coin. This one is a so-called dollar i think.
