Well, they did a poor job on the top one. The other one....I have no ***ing idea what they're trying to do.
I don't get it either - why try to hide part of the holder and then describe the coin as cleaned. The holders look real to me and maybe they are hoping some bids without reading the auction. On ebay anything is possible.
Maybe they purchased the coins that way and the previous seller had written on the holders. I only say that because both coins have "Cleaned" in large type in the descriptions.
if they're cleaned, doesnt that basically make them worthless as slabbed coins? i dont collect slabbed coins but i would avoid buying those like they were the plague itself.
My guess is that is the way this person purchased this particular coin, Hes not trying to hide anything IMO. He clearly states "cleaned" in the description. My only question is why he would buy that in the first place?? Jim
Actually, cleaned is a descriptive. The slabs are still certifying them as genuine. With all of the fakes out there, it is still good to know that the coins are not fakes.
In the first photo he crossed out DETAILS and then CLEANED. The second he must be obscuring the name of some unknown TPG and maybe a referrence number. With all that plastic he's covering up he could be hiding some other described defect like corroded or fake. ANACS wouldn't slab it if it was a fake while others would slab a tiddlywink round. Bruce.
