Well, below is a link that I came across. I don't know anything about it other than it's from the Ukraine. Any takers, or comments? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Custom-Coi...MC17XOjJbaINb3camA:rk:1:pf:0&var=601609902026
Interesting. I think it would be fun hammering out your own coins (etc). The fact that it is coming from Ukraine kills it for me. No offense intended to anyone.
Yeah, I think it would be a blast but I'm just not ready to gamble on it yet. I was hoping somebody on this forum has run across one, or has heard something about it. I asked the seller on on ebay if he has a video of it in action, this inquiring mind wants to know!!
I don't think it's against the law, maybe I'm wrong. What law is being broken?, it's really a token or medal machine.
I'm not certain of the law but I think it would only be against the law if you were trying to duplicate a coin.
That's cool. I've seen ones based on hydraulic bottle jacks. For coin material you can get sheet anything silver (gold, platinum, copper, brass, nickel alloy) sheet either dead soft or dead hard) example: https://www.riogrande.com/category/metals/silver/925-sterling/sheets-strips-and-foil) and then cut your own planchets from that using a round press (or octagon, etc). example: https://www.riogrande.com/product/swanstrom-disc-and-shape-cutter-collection/112491 hmm .. just make it a hydraulic press lol cheap example: https://www.amazon.com/Piece-Circle-Round-Disc-Cutter/dp/B00E9F8V58 here's a 100 ton press, table top, for 2" coining https://www.riogrande.com/product/bonny-doon-pro-100-ton-electric-hydraulic-press-and-ram/110450 or just buy yourself a real one ... https://www.schulergroup.com/major/...enztechnik_praegen_presse_bi_metal/index.html
Just make sure you stamp "COPY" on it afterwards ... or just do a fantasy overstrike using an existing coin.
Better to have the word COPY in raised letters on the die. (If you are making a copy of a coin) because otherwise technically between the time you strike them and when you punch COPY into them they are illegal and you have committed a crime. And does punching COPY in later undo the crime of making an unmarked copy? (If you steal something is it no longer a crime if you return it?)
