    Hi All

I found this today and THINK it might be the Type B -

I have a hard time with these type IDs, but I have been looking at hundreds of quarters and this seems to have the characteristics, and I have not seen a 1963 with such a strong strike, so it got me wondering!

    Thank you so much!

Show the obverse if you can please. The gap between the E & S in States sure makes it look like a Type B Reverse.

Here you go - Also, this is where I get confused.... is this a proof that ended up in the wild? Is it a business strike with proof back? Is one less common than the other?

Thanks. It doesn't look proof to me (rims don't look proof-like). Just based on these pictures so could be wrong. I need to learn a lot more about these in order to answer the rest of your question.

I wasn't aware that 1963 had different reverses.
A quick tutorial would be welcomed. TY

Yes, look at the proximity of the leaf and the "A" in dollar. For me, that is the easiest and quickest diagnostic. There are others.

Type "B" reverses result when a left over proof die was used to strike business strike coins. The coins are not proof. They often are not even proof like.
