I get a few of those at the at the cigarette machine at the casino every week.

Subways ticket machines, at least in DC, give the $1 coins out in change instead of any bills.

Any vending machine on government property is required to accept and dispense dollar coins.

 

Ok i did not know that

 

The government did that to force the use of dollar coins. Years ago, when it started, the Post Offices took out stamp vending machines due to the cost to convert them. They were ancient.

Why do some of them look finished and some dont. See pictures.

 

The luster on Sac. and Presidental dollars diminishes very quickly when they get in circulation.
