A friend of a friend has had these passed down to him. He has had them in his safe for some time and plans on keeping them there but knows nothing about them other than they were collected during the war (WWII). There are 7 or 8 20000 Marks - some sequential serial numbers. I went over for dinner and he broke them out to show me. Please take a look and tell me anything you have time for. More importantly, is there much value in them? Given the way he stores them if they are valuable it would be good to know so that he might reconsider the storage method. Darryl... I am not much help when it comes to foreign notes, however, those Notegeld are beautiful! He needs to store those in Mylar asap. RickieB
Hi RickieB - I agree - those are some beautiful notes! The colors and designs were something to see. It was a real treat to get to go through them. DeOrc is going to enjoy looking at them when he gets back home! Mylar would be much better than current container. I am going to pick some up for him next time I get to a coin shop. Thanks Darryl
Thanks, I believe they have been kept in a safe since they came back for Europe. Colors are bright on most of them and it doesn't look like they were circulated too much before making there way to the US. The paper is pretty dry a feel a little brittle so I did not want to try and straighten any corners without having note protectors to put them into. Just never know what some people have - it was something else to see these old notes! Regards Darryl
They are very nice looking notes! as you said, the colors look vibrant on alot of the notes. Very cool! Thanks for posting the pics
