One thing is certain - it was not dated 1916. The reverse with three stars below the eagle was used 1917 to 1930, but not in 1916.

    Pre-1925 type two (1917-1924).

No dates on these make these pretty much melt value for me also.

pumpkinpie what is this I don*t even

I will venture to guess it is a 1917 to 1924 because those were prone to the date wearing off. Can you see a mintmark? (located to the left of the date)

There is no mintmark visable... but on the right side is an M carved in it... from the designer Macneil...don't know if that means something..

Still a nice heirloom from your Dad , definitely worth keeping for that alone , as others stated the 3 star reverse was started with the Type 2 SLQ in the latter part of 1917 , so definitely not a 1916 .

Wow...came back from a restaurant, the change I got back was crazy. Pulled out my change to give to my son to play a crane game. Just then I said I better check the rarenous of each coin like I always do. Lo&B old I have a dateless standing liberty w/a three star under eagle. (1916-1917) pending. 1916 suppose to be datless with no three star under eagle. Wonder, why do I have a three star under eagle w/ no date under liberty.

Read above , the 3 stars reverse started with the type 2 coin in 1917 . No 1916 SLQ has a 3 stars under the eagle reverse . Do you have a red book as you can read about the two types there .
