    Bruce,
I recently picked up this 1797 English penny with what I think is a religious counterstamp and I am curious to know what you think.

I suspect that IHP stands for "In His Presence".

Thx for any insight you might be able to offer.

I'll look around for you, Jeff. Anything on the reverse or markings that don't show on the picture?

Silver Round T1 Standing Lib. Quarter, 1 oz. Troy silver, 39mm M/A, Golden State Mint. I think silver rounds are the best deal going. You can even find classic designs such as this at a fair price. Best of all, it's a replica of a coin but still an Exo, without a slab, and without the "shall we play a game" grading.

    Thx Bruce.

Just the three initials as shown, deeply struck. Reverse is just heavily worn, showing slight impact from the counterstampjng on the obverse.

I did pull the vintage religious reference from an Internet search and I may have seen it in modern churches along the way...

I might not have thought anything of the counterstamp prior to your incredible example.

I thought you might like to see this document, written and signed by William Penn when he was in the Colonies. Most of his known signatures were done when he was in England, making this document especially rare. I’ve had it for a little over a year. F1433D20-7B3A-4922-8F9B-07A0F1F44C79.jpeg
