This Walking Liberty Half was graded probably by the auctioneer. This is the second coin I bought and I'd like your thoughts about it.
By the guess of a scanned image and the marks in the field, I’d guess AU53, from a non collector of WLHs
Okay, 1941-D. The mints weren't striking them very well that year. I agree with AU-53 but with enough wiggle room to go -50 or -55.
Can't grade from these scans. Could be overdipped, or an original coin. Will need photos to grade from.
Scans are abysmal.......I didn't take that into account when I made my assessment. But, judging by the photog/scan, these old eyes detect 'wear' on the bodice (obverse) and breast feathers (reverse). Or maybe I should clean my glasses......
Sorry, can't do photos at this time. You have a scan on the photo setting at 600dpi which I could increase the dpi.
The resolution of the scan does not matter. It's the lighting that kills the look of the coin. If you have a modern smart phone, you will be much better off showing us a representative photo of the coin than using a scanner. Reading the scan, I would guess at AU-55. There is certainly some rub going down Liberty as well as on the reverse. I am guessing that the rest of the coin still retains some pretty decent luster.
Sorry, you will have to work with the same picture everyone else is using. Currently, my cell phone is a little dumber than I am, but it works for me and I only have to pay about $150 a year for it. I would like to take better pictures for you, if you can wait for me to find a solution acceptable to you and others that don't cost too much and are just as easy to use. I am aware of other options, but this is the best I can do for now.
No worries, I made due with the scans. Some people have phones with decent cameras and they don't realize it. I should say that even this scan is much better than some of the photo's people post that come from cameras.
As I have said, this coin was graded by someone who might not be the best grade. I was surprised to see it graded MS66. That's why I think it's overgraded.
Something AU or low MS, but not a very appealing coin in pics. This date and mm is about 70% average strike quality
