Hi, Just wandered if this is considered an error and if so what type is it? I know the coin has wear but I thought it was interesting. Thanks for any help as I'm not a coin collector. Just one I've had forever.

Thanks for the help. I've had it about 55 yrs. My grandfather gave me a few of these. But this is the only one like this. I assume you're saying someone I guess did this intentionally to it. What a shame.

It was probably a coin rolling machine. When the machine closes the end of a paper roll, it sometimes leaves a gouge like that. But, this is the closest to the rim that I've seen one, but it is still Post Mint Damage (PMD). Thanks for sharing and welcome to CT.

Thanks Mountain Man. Since I really don't know a thing about coins is that a bad thing to happen to a coin. I guess basically what I'm asking is it any good or should I just stick in back in my jar? LOL I appreciate all the knowledge shared. Roberta

Stick it back in the jar as it's damaged.

Thanks for your input but if it's damaged it's history. I'm cleaning out and no sense in keeping something that's not worth anything. My grandfather would agree but would be disappointed.
