I recently purchased a Lincoln Penny Coin Booklet from a garage sale and found some coins that appear to be possible satin finished. I'm returning to coin collecting after many years of absents. If anyone could give me any helpful information, I would greatly appreciate it. I uploaded a picture of a 2009D Lincoln Penny and would like information on how to tell if a coin is a Business Strike or Satin Finished Special Strike ?
Your coin appears to be a normal business strike not a proof here a pic that might help in the future. Dave
Thanks for input, I have a few more that I’m researching on and will most likely submit to PCGS or NGC soon. Before I submit I’ll upload and get feed back on other coins as well. I researched business, and satin strikes to see if anything different other then appearance. If anyone has further information, please let me know.
Not worth the grading fees! These coins are only worth a few dollars at most, and grading fees from PCGS or NGC will run $20+ per coin with Registered shipping. Save your money.
I have a roll (50) of these from each mint still in the original packaging. They were cut out of the specimen sets. I got them for about 25 cents each or less. The state quarters were 50 cents - double face value. Not worth sending in.
