Hey guys, Just found a 1931 no mark penny in pretty good shape for its age. You can still see details on wheat stalks. ANYWAY, in reading on web, they said the s mint mark for this year is valuable, as is the one I have with no mark. Is this true or more hype?
The 1931 w/o a mint mark is the least valuable of the three for that year. In "Good" condition they are as follows...1931P=.65 cents, 1931D=$4.25, 1931S= $59.00 according to latest Numismatic News price guide.
That's what I figured, but it was fun to find one so old and in pretty good shape. Thanks for the information.
FYI - No Mint Mark means it was Minted at the Philadelphia Mint. They never used a P Mint Mark on any Cents until 2017. The only year you will see a P Mint Mark on the Cent.
Quite so, thanks. What do you think about the history behind the 1931 penny? I thought it was interesting when reading. Just wondered if there is anything else I need to note for that year besides the elusive s.
