Now I think there is a die crack that starts above the 0 goes down and to the left under the 7 and through the mintmark.. if I read it right ... ugh and this is where your help Is needed .. the crack is consistency with the DDO of this year ..
Hopefully someone will correct me if I am wrong as I just got into this myself. It doesn't appear to be a double die. It looks like it has a really nice shine to it and what I've found is that the light makes the lettering reflect which can make it look like a double die. On coins that still have a good shine to them, I take my finger/hand and try cast a little bit of a shadow to remove the reflection and then check. From what I have gathered though is that even if something is still there fairly really close, 9/10 times it's probably going to be machine doubling.
It is not -001, -005, -018, -025, and its not a proof, so that eliminates all of the major ones, sorry. Jim
Sorry, I should have expanded my posting. Yes , when a variety has been recognized by an expert, they may attach a number to it for reference in their writings or website without using a photo each time. Wexler puts a "W" in front , Cherrypickers guide uses FS-, Crawford uses a C, etc. I like Coppercoins.com and Wexlers-Flynn's "Authoritative Reference on Lincoln Cents ". The last one also uses a Roman numeral ( 1-9) to identify what went wrong to produce the DD, with 9 being "God only knows". Of course there is cross reference numbers so sometimes, several tags are used. It was late
