Can anyone help me figure out what kind of pretty this is and where it came from? And possibly how much it is worth. 1964 no mint mark wheat penny. I found this in a roll of pennies earlier today. Looks to be in excellent condition. I'm new to coin collecting. Only been at it for a few weeks.
It was minted in Philadelphia. Sold individually, I'd say it's worth from $0.05 - $0.10. I used to be able to buy uncirculated rolls of these for $0.95 each back in about 2005. Appearing to be devoid of any fingerprints, yours appears to be in exceptionally nice condition, which is a big plus to someone looking for an individual example of that year.
Welcome to CT. Get yourself a red book, but ignore the pricing. It doesn't have to a new one, as it has a lot of good information. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2016-Offic...st/113347642521?hash=item1a640bc499:rk:1:pf:0
Here are some basics Wheat cent (1909–1958) Lincoln Memorial design (1959–2008) Lincoln Bicentennial cents (2009) Union shield reverse "Shield cent" (introduced 2010) Mint Marks for Cents D - Denver Mint S - San Francisco Mint No Mint Mark - Philadelphia Mint. But they did add a P in 2017 and only for that year. Here is a helpful link - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lincoln_cent http://lincolncentresource.com/
I knew that I got it mixed up with my 1936 S wheat penny I found. I was tired and writing about the wrong one. Oops
Agree very strongly with @dwhiz post. This book is the best $10-15 a new collector can spend on the hobby. An edition a year or twoold is still useful and if you get lucky, it will only be a couple bucks
Agree 110%. The previous year copies are usually available at overstock stores for pennies on the dollar. The relevant information remains unchanged. I used my 1977 dated copy until just this last year.
so my husband has a roll of pennies that look like that and have been kept in a plastic tube never used what would they be worth
