Now before you guys go and start flaming me i went and bought some bullion coins that i want to carry along with me so naturally i want them to look good. so i am not talkign about retooling but rather polishing them or waht ever so that they look bright and shiny and people who dont collect coins will think they re pretty. i am also looking for a way to do this cheaply so let me know whats the best way to make them looking like new and dont worrya bout getting their value reduces they arent worth more than bullion.

also another question since i usually dont end up with low end bullion if i were to get lets say 10 harshly cleaned dipped 1921 peace dollars at bullion would they still be bullion or worth more same goes for rare date morgans.

i am not asking from where i already know that. i am asking is a key date worth more than junk if its harshly cleaned net fine or better

Depends on the key, but yes, it would still definitely be worth more than scrap.

i guess it goes with my rep of getting only high grade coins. i think its rather cool and in my spare i might try to make a lowball set out of bullion that will be cheap and exciting.

Why don't you try a " California" Proof ? Frost the coin with an acid or a bead blaster, then get the dremel felt points and some mag polish and mirror the fields... I'll post mine when I'm done. The gals at work do this to jet engine parts every day, I have all the stuff at my disposal at lunchtime

sounds like a good idea but where am i going to get access to all those things. this polishing stuff is hard i wonder how the crooks can do it so easily?

There are all kinds of silver polish out there. They work just as well for coins as they do silverware.

Spock. You've given me an idea. I've got silver polish (I have NO idea where it came from) and maybe I'll polish one of my Cull Washington quarters to see what happens. I like the idea of a pocket piece. Thanks.

yea the only thing i have is the idea and the pocket piece and no polish. its driving me nuts. also its -6 outside so i am not goign out to buy something just to make my pocket piece look good :)

Try cloth (felt or wool maybe?) and a lot of elbow grease.

I think polished Morgans and Peace Dollars look horrible, not just in a numismatic sense but in an ascetic sense. They look garish. Why don't you get a nice UNC common Morgan, like an 81 S, and put in an airtite. You can get a really nice one for $40. That will be more impressive than an ugly polished coin.

There's always a buyer for key dates. Bet Abon would pay a decent premium as most of their work would already be done and they just have to slap in a high end SGS slab.
