We are a hobby of a bunch of old men who have been collecting coins for quite a few years on average. We are not an excitable bunch, and for the most part have little discernable enthusiasm. I simply find it refreshing to have new, inexperienced collectors asking questions. Sure, some, (most) might be what we view as silly questions, but at least they have energy and force us to think things in a different way. Buying a lottery ticket is not any worst for the most part than buying entry level coins in terms of returns. I am not one to judge what people buy for personal enjoyment.
Also worth pointing out to a noob is that even if you had that coveted rare coin, condition and grade makes all the difference. Your $4000 coin that only had half its luster, spots on the reverse, and scratches, would in reality be barely pushing $1000. And if you sell it on Ebay or at auction, take off 20 percent or more from that figure.
You can be new to coin collecting and still have your common sense. Far too many new posters communicate like some sort of parody, completely lacking in grammar, judgement and critical thinking.
I'm putting this in bronze, mounted on a slab of marble, and putting on my desk. But about that, there are several of what I call "bedrock" principles. "Be gneiss to people, don't act like a schist head, and never take your marble for granite." /He drops the mica.
They should book you for the United States Geological Survey (USGS) Holiday Party. You’ll knock ‘em dead with that routine
Possible, if you are a VERY advanced collector who paid dearly for it. Otherwise, no, you don't have one that you "found".
