Found this. Thought it was just another cool wheat penny until I started doing a bit of research. Seems to be a rare one and this one looks in pretty good condition. I dont see any error varieties but just the low mintage alone makes it kind of cool. anyone want to tell me what it might be worth??? I know, not great pics but the best I can do with this little scope.
Yes. Does not appear genuine. Look at the shoulder, the VDB area is missing. The line of the 1 is too far to the right. Look at the spacing on the date.
Yes. The 4 has been altered to look like a 1, but it is too far to the right. The VDB on the bottom of the shoulder has been removed. See how that part of the jacket is missing near the rim? Put it in a flip and label it "altered". So no one is accidentally deceived.
I tried to get a better picture of the date. You can almost see kind of where the line of the "4" is. I know its worthless but Im keeping it. Someone put some effort into this coin lol. Makes me wonder if anyone ever paid too much to buy this penny.
Definitely altered 1944-D into a 1914-D but it's a good alteration. Definitely a keeper for reform and research.
I found an altered 1944-D when I was a kid in 70s. I still have it and have no plans to get rid of it even though I own an authentic one. I remembered how I thought it was Really cool when I found it
