    Hi,
As I mentioned before I was a card collector
Im selling all the ones of value which is only like 3

but for the ones that arent appreciated by the collectors because there either commons or not that popular I decided to give away as 10 cards per pack to kids in need or childrens hospitals

What do you guys think I should do about the packs..Im a horrible artist and cant even cut a paper strait so Im not gonna try to make them

I dont know how to get packs made from a company
any ideas on how to do packs...im thinkin wax paper?

also, If you have a childrens hospital nearby you let me know and if you want i can give you some packs to give to the kids...

also...what would be good organizations to give these packs to?

    thanks,
    stainless

The Shriners have several children's hospitals around the country, and chapters almost everywhere, so there is probably one near you that could facilitate distribution.

Congratulations on picking a great way to shed unwanted collectibles!

You use to be able to buy self sealing packs for sets from card shops. If you know where there is still a card/coin shop in you area you can get them there.

As far as what you are doing with the card I think that is very admirable and I appluaded you for your efforts.

As a baseball card collector, I bow down to your efforts.

Another area to think about are half-way houses, adoption places, etc.

If it were me and if I were in my usual "Lazy" mode, I would just give them to the local Goodwill store. I don't know where the money goes when they sell the cards, but the Goodwill stores here in Iowa employ people with various sorts of handicaps (I don't know how to say it diplomatically). In any case, I'm all for that.

Thanks Stainless, I may just make a trip down to the local Goodwill store to give 'em some stuff.

I commend you for your noble gesture!

What causes are you interested in? Children is a great idea.

Perhaps you may look into an "auction" sponsered by a local hospital that deals with children in need.

Just tossing this idea out as I have no idea how it would work but thinking if the hospital pushed it hard enough you could generate more money than the cards are worth because people actually do care.
Then you might also be able to present some of the better cards to children that really want them.

Just tossing out thoughts as I said Stainless but it really is a nice gesture. Keep us posted so we can help.

    hmmmmm....
thats actually a pretty good idea...i could sort them by team and have bids on them....

i myself when i was a kid would rather have a card of a certain player...
but if i raise $$ with them they would also like that

thanks for the thought...will keep that in mind..

and yeah...im doing this for children either handicaped or in need....

    please keep the suggestions coming

Stainless, if you get this thing going and you need more cards let me know because I have about 10,000 + cards that I can donate. Some of them are already in team sets. The dates range from 1980's to the early 2000's.

Prior to sorting them out why not first check with some orphaniges, not sure if spelled right, and ask if they want the entire pile. If they do, I'm sure they will, let those kids do the sorting. They could make a game out of who gets what and how many. Also, others may be donating some similar so yours would make the amount even more substantial. If you want to use a section of a hospital for kids they may want to do the same. You might be sorting them differently than the kids. If I were you I'd just give them the entire pile and let them decide.

That is a very nice thing for you to do man. :thumb: Maybe what you can do is have like a grab bag thing or something, put them in a plastic doohickie (not sure if that is spelled right :D), and put like 10 cards or so in them, and just put them in a bag of some sort. Not sure. Best of luck with whatever you decide. :thumb:
