dime mint mark?

    Can someone telll me what this is? The mint mark was punched so hard it actually dented the reverse of the coin. dimemm.jpg dimemm1.jpg

    That is actually damage.
    They don't punch the mint mark onto the coin after it is struck. It's part of the Obverse Die used to strike the blank. They would have to add the Mint Mark millions of times every year.. That wouldn't be good!
    Someone hit it with a pointy object or shot it with a BB gun.

    this is a whole lot smaller than this it only covers the mint mark

    Paddyman98 suggested it was a BB. This was, I believe, a 22.
