Being the proud French-American I am. I am usually Bonaparte for Halloween. Although this year, I have officially decided to retired from this. So instead, he'll be my avatar for a few days. I think the guy is one of the greatest generals/leaders EVER. Yeah, no bias there lol. He just ran into some horrible luck. Well considering the fact I (disgracefully) own zero NB coins. I would really like to see some of yours? Joyeaux Halloween, tout le monde.

Not sure I'd call invading Russia in the winter time merely bad luck lol

Yes, that was a big mistake. I was talking about the Battle of Waterloo. With it raining for 2 days straight. This made it extremely difficult to move his heavy artillery. Therefore, his army wasn't effective enough.

HAB, you should really read "Napoleon: A Life" by Andrew Roberts. I'm also a huge fan of Napoleon and Napoleonic history, and this book is among the best on the topic, if not the best. Here are two Heritage pics of my favorite Napoleonic coin. Cheers!

I've read both the Asprey Books. They are long but fantastic. I will look into your recommendation. Thanks

Cool timing, I love how @Mat's "Emperor of the Republic" coin fits in between mine. I need to get one of those!

I always thought Napoleon's family was Italian. :) His real name was Napoleone di Buonaparte, That's as Italian as you can get.

The di Buonaparte's were an Italian family living in Corsica. Napoleone's father's name was Carlo di Buonaparte. Napoleone's brother's name was Giuseppe. Those are not French names. :)

When did you move from France to the U.S.? Did you gain citizenship, or just have a green card?

I have a book of French coins that I haven't delved into yet however I was closer to Napoleonic history than alot of people on here. Let me tell you, the man had a taste for grandeur and the finer things in life! I had the great privilege to visit the Louvre and see Napoleons apartment that they had moved there. Very exquisite and something you should plan on seeing if you ever get over to the great city of Paris. A must see!

What part of France is she from if you don't mind? I have visited Nice, Monton and Paris and am in love with the country!

Eastern France, Lyon. It's a nice town. I lived in northern Paris from 2003-6. I currently do not have much desire to go back to Paris. I would consider Southern France (including Corsica) one of the nicest places on Earth. VERY expensive though unfortunately.

Here’s my favorite Frenchman. Leader of the Free French in WWII and later president of France, Charles de Gaulle. (Stick with the Bonaparte coins, guys. Not trying to hijack the thread. It just made me think of de Gaulle),
