I'll put my neck on the chopping block at VF20.... I would say VF25 but her hair just appears too worn to me.
XF40. 1921-S Morgans are a tough coin to grade. They usually come unattractive, the relief is different from 1878-04 coins, and some of the detail is different. Comparing it to other examples, that’s my grade.
First impression XF40. But I never look at the 21's. My eye just doesn't like them, sorry. Edit: I was just going off wear... but I think I see a little luster, still at 40....looks quite original on my phone anyway.
I have no idea, I can't remember the last time I had a circulated Morgan Dollar. Not a dig at anyone, just a fact.
I went VF35 based on the remaining detail of the cotton bolls. While the San Fran mint produced a dismal strike for the reverse details the cotton bolls had decent detail when mint fresh. I may be slightly off-base but I'm sticking with it...
I'm not an expert in any means, but this Morgan looks like it's been cleaned nobody else has mentioned it?
My neck is pretty far out there at vf35. Edit: no luster... the hair, cotton bolls, wheat stalks, breast feathers, wreath leaves on the right hand side all look pretty worn to my eyes but this date & mm (plus vam) have a weak strike reverse. What i really dont like is the big knife cut above the arrow feathers, and the various dings, marks and scratches all amongst it
VF-35. Close to XF, but without some luster remaining around the devices, it’s not quite there. What is the thornhead?
Put me down for 35. Not enough spaghetti left of the head for me to say 40, and there's a good amount of wear on the reverse on the eagle's right wing and the wreath.
When I enlarge the pics the field in front of Liberty's face gets kind of a wiped look. Possibly just the lighting. Just trying to interpret photos of a coin I obviously don't have in hand.
