Toned coins/bizarre coloring from 2016 in change? Just curious...

    Hello,

I rarely pay attention to pocket change, usually because I never have any, but two days in a row I received a pair of different colored 2016 Harper's Ferry ATB quarters in change. One shines a bright silver and the other has a bronze or dull brass hue to it. It is not the shiny brilliant gold of the old gold-plated state quarters, it has a color a bit closer to a Presidential or a Sacajawea dollar. I probably wouldn't have even noticed the difference had I not received them together for two days in a row. The color differences are more subtle in the photo below than in hand. In hand the difference stands out more. Don't worry, I don't think that I've struck it rich or that I've found some rare error, I'm just more curious what would cause the difference in color. Is it just toning? Or a bad plating job? All have shiny cartwheel luster.

It's just the way they tone. A nice champagne color. No added value.

It may have been in some type of album for a while.

    Great statement!

    Probably environmental toning.

Has anyone seen the Sacajawea set where they are opposite in color? Gold bust on one and silver bust on the other? What's up with this? Odd.
